I Might Need A Bigger Closet: Handbag Edition

Hello fashion lovers, I'm so happy to be here with all of you guys again. I hope that all of you are having a great week and a fabulous wardrobe to match.

During my Christmas break, I immersed myself in reading fashion magazines and the one thing that kept staring me in the face was handbags. So today, I thought why not do another I Might Need A Bigger Closet but a handbag edition. So I hope all of you are ready to hear about these six handbag brands that sparked my interest during Christmas last year.

While I was reading the December/January issue of Harper's Bazaar, I saw an ad for the Italian leather brand Il Bisonte and fell in love with the handbag that I saw in the campaign,  Il Bisonte is a Florentine brand of quality craftmanship founded in 1970 by Wanny Di Filippo. Manufacturing takes place exclusively in Tuscany and utilizes fine leathers processed naturally through vegetable tanning. The brand's mission has always been focused on environmental, social, and consumer sustainability. All raw materials are carefully selected and processed by master Italian artisans and each product is made to last over time while preserving its beauty and uniqueness. With sun exposure and daily use, the cowhide leather darkens and testifies to the value and quality of the bags and accessories, confirming Il Bisonte's mission for sustainability, an initiative that has accompanied its production philosophy for over fifty years.

The Hobo bag in Cowhide leather is the same bag that I saw in the ad, The shoulder bag in bio-tanned cowhide leather, is shaped on beech wood frames. Its essential design features the unmistakable iconic wave contour. Magnetic snap closure. Unlined with a large open leather pocket. 100% made in Italy and produced in the province of Florence by master artisans in Il Bisonte's 30-Km supply chain. This bag retails for $590.00.

Advene is based in New York City, we are a new kind of accessories brand dedicated to rethinking everyday essentials. By sourcing responsible materials and working closely with craftspeople to minimize unnecessary plastics, they're pushing back against traditional production codes and forging their own path. The Age bag is a top-handle bag with a triangular pouch that unfolds from a magnetic closure into an effortless bucket bag. A shoulder strap is included for added versatility. Both straps are adjustable and easily detachable with push-stud fastening. It's Surprisingly spacious for its petite appearance, the Age bag easily accommodates all the essentials that we need on an everyday basis. The Age bag is priced at $645.00.

I remember seeing Heart Evangelista taking pictures for Sequoia as a campaign that she did for the brand a few years ago and I've been in love with their bags ever since. Both sparkling and soft, a bit retro but still trendy, the leather goods house Sequoia expresses its Parisian style through iconic lines and new resolutely unconventional models. Inspired by fashion, art, and design, Sequoia combines know-how and innovation. Over the seasons, they find historical lines that are always renewed, limited editions, and unique models available in a wide range of leathers. Crocodile-style or suede cowhide, studded patent leather, sheepskin, or textured split leather, our Italian leathers offer endless variations. The use of atypical materials, such as the resin of their handles, reflects the Arty and avant-garde spirit of Sequoia. The ring, a distinctive sign of the house, is available in shapes, prints, and even in the detail of the buckles. Their collections are developed in their Parisian studio and they prioritize French manufacturing which brings dynamism and responsiveness to their productions.

The Handle First bag is something that I need for my Fall wardrobe this year, the size is perfect for all of your daily essentials, and the color is ideal for Fall. The price for this bag is 259 euros or $282.21 in US Dollars.

Yliana Yepez fell in love with the fashion industry as a model at the age of 16. She had always dreamed of being an actress, but a chance visit to a handbag factory changed her life, planting the seeds of wanting to start her own business. At that time in Venezuela, women’s accessories were mostly limited to black and brown bags, and she saw an opportunity to make beautiful, colorful handbags that broke this mold. While modeling, she also studied, earning a business degree which led to starting her first company with a friend from college Blues by Kyky. They ran this company for 18 years and developed it until it was a household name with a nationwide reach of eight standing stores. In 2009, I moved to NYC with the idea of continuing to grow Blues by Kyky, but after a few years, I decided it was time to bring that chapter to an end. While we closed the business, the passion for handbags never went away, and it led to the creation of Yliana Yepez in 2013. Her handbag company represents her heritage as a designer. Her company doesn’t just sell handbags, it sells unique pieces that tell her story and start a conversation with anyone who sees them. Centered around exquisite craftsmanship and luxury materials, the collection’s iconic styles range from day bags to minaudieres, and she has been fortunate to work with Bloomingdale’s as one of the first encompasses a joie de vivre through bold and vibrant colors and department stores that took a chance on me and believed in her work, imaginative design details. Yliana Yepez has become a company recognized worldwide by actresses and fashion industry insiders, with features in top magazines and over 300 publications. Their bags have been seen at major red-carpet events around the world like the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, the Grammys, the Goya Awards in Spain, the César Awards in France, and the Cannes Film Festival.  They've been recognized twice by the Fashion Group International as a rising star in accessory design while proudly partnering with industry magazines and charity organizations in order to give back and help the situation in Venezuela.
At the same time, they have been growing their brand’s presence in other countries. Today, Yliana Yepez has expanded its reach from a one-design category into small leather goods and evening minaudieres.

The Fabiana leather clutch marries traditional Yliana Yepez craftsmanship with a youthful design. Its compact design and lightweight frame make it the perfect street companion. Show it off as a statement clutch or carry it as a cross-body bag. I love the crisscross design on the bag and the color is perfect for Spring and Summer. The price for the Fabiana is $585.00.

I heard about Onna Ehrlich from Canadian fashion stylist KimXO when she had one of their bags. The Onna Ehrlich accessories collection is classic and modern. Influenced by California sophistication and Onna’s Nigerian heritage, the collection is designed for the busy woman who appreciates quality. The bags are handmade from carefully chosen fabrics, leather, and suede. The fine jewelry collection is produced from conflict-free diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals. Onna has been featured on TV and in fashion and design magazines globally, including InStyle, O Magazine, WWD, and more. Her bags are carried by such celebrities as Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Mila Kunis, Michelle Kagen, and Eva Longoria.

The Rachel has to be in my closet, I love the whipstitch design on the strap, the size is perfect, and the best part is that it comes in several colors and the asking price is $650.00.

Alkeme Atelier is a new handbag brand for me, Alkeme Atelier is inspired by the ancient science of Alchemy and the process of transforming and combining the four elements (earth, water, fire, and air).  This idea of breaking down and rebuilding materials led us to produce their bags with sustainable, plant-based textiles. Utilizing materials such as Pinatex not only helps them to support the farming communities but also reduces the number of natural resources needed to manufacture our products. Along with the exterior of their bags, they also construct the interior of their bags with eco-friendly textiles. Tons of plastic are discarded every year, polluting lands, rivers, oceans, coasts, and beaches. They take this waste and transform it into a brand new material, a fabric used as the linings of their handbags. They hope taking these conscious steps will aid in the mission to protect the planet and cultivate an ethical and sustainable fashion. They are constantly innovating for sustainable materials.

The Water Moon Satchel reminds me of a YSL bag that I saw in Instyle Magazine a few years back, Material: Made in an innovative Vegan Leather, exclusive to the brand. The material is lightweight, scratch resistant, and high in strength. We produce this bag in a factory that is ISO 9001 certified. The Water Moon Satchel has been featured in WWD, Italy. This bag is in several colors and the price for this bag is $299.00.

Well fashion and handbag lovers, I hope that I put you guys on some amazing handbag brands, and as always, I hope that all of you have enjoyed this blog post, I love you all so much, and until next time, Stay Beautiful.
