My Favorite Underrated Fashion Designers: Jonathan Simkhai

Image
Hello everyone, I missed you all so much and I hope that you all had an amazing Thanksgiving with your family and friends. During my week off, I found myself inspired by fashion by watching old episodes of Videofashion on the Tubi app on my phone and I found more appreciation for one of my favorite and underrated fashion designers, Jonathan Simkhai.  Established in 2010, the Jonathan Simkhai brand provides luxury ready-to-wear for the modern woman. The core aesthetic philosophy plays with the tension of feminine strength and sensuality; this is reflected in the employment of customized fabrics, romantic detailing, linear lines, and contoured silhouettes. Through designs that seek to embolden women with confidence and ease, the brand represents modern versatility. As a 2015 winner of the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, Jonathan Simkhai continues to redefine the 21st-century wardrobe and reinvigorate American fashion. Founded in New York, Jonathan Simkhai launched his eponymous lab

Hello everyone, and Happy Tuesday to you all. I hope that all of you had a great day and were safe as much as possible. In the times that we all live in, we all need to treat each other with kindness and love, but I think I was born a hippie, and still believe that be kind will get you very farther than being mean to each other. One day, I was reading the November issue of Instyle Magazine and I saw this handbag that intrigued my interest. So I went online to see more about this fashion brand and I'm in love with everything that I see and I want one in my closet for the Spring and Summer.  Petit Kouraj means "Little Courage in Haitian, (Such a beautiful meaning if I do say so myself.) Petit Kouraj is the creation of fashion stylist, Nasrin Jean-Baptiste. Born in London to Haitian immigrants, Jean-Baptiste amassed over a decade’s worth of experience as an international fashion stylist before creating Petit Kouraj. I feel that it's my duty to support them because I feel that there's not a lot of Black Fashion Designers in the Fashion Industry at all and I hope that that will change in the future because there are so many amazing Black Fashion designers and brands that need our support, just as the designer that I'm going to introduce to you guys today.  I was on the internet one day and I noticed these amazing pants that would be perfect for my Summer wardrobe, so I decided to go on the website to check out the clothing for myself and I was obsessed ever since I saw those pants. Meet My Fashion Friend, Sonique Saturday

Happy Tuesday fashion lovers, I hope that all of you are doing well and staying safe out in our world today and was wearing a fabulous outfit. I'll say this until I'm blue in the face, there's nothing wrong with having designer dupes in your closet. We all can't afford all of the designer bags that all of the celebrities and fashion influencers constantly flaunt in our faces all of the time. I'm pretty sure that my friends and family will still love me if I don't have a designer bag, quite honestly, I'm sick of the whole "status" thing and you need this to be successful, a designer bag should not make you as a person nor make you become a materialistic person.  So one night, I was on my Instagram and I saw this Hermes Birkin dupe that has a funny saying on it. I went to the website and I was absolutely in love with the message of this brand. The name SoniqueSaturday is quickly becoming synonymous with a level of taste and success that few in the f

On My Beauty Wishlist: Black Girl Sunscreen

Image
Hello to all of my fellow beauty lovers, I hope that all of you are doing well and staying safe in the world that we all are trying to live and thrive in right now.  Introducing sunscreen into my beauty routine has been a game-changer for me. I feel that my skin has benefitted from this some much, it looks a lot healthier, some of my dark spots have disappeared, and it has become a lot smoother and softer. I feel so silly for not getting on the bandwagon sooner and when I have a daughter of my own I'll teach her that wearing sunscreen is important.  I was looking online for black-owned beauty brands and I saw this sunscreen that I've never heard of before, I feel that some sunscreens do make black women's skin look a little ashy. Their story begins with the need for melanin women to have a sunscreen brand that caters exclusively to them. The company was founded in 2016  in the ever-popular city of Miami, Florida. Beach days are always necessary but blotchy makeup and white
