AAPI Fashion Designer That You Need To Know About: PH5

Happy Tuesday fellow fashion lovers, I'm so grateful to be here with you guys again. I hope that all of you are doing well and had a great weekend.

I remember seeing a dress in Comsopoliatin Magazine by PH5 a few years ago, and I thought to myself, "Why are they not well known in the fashion world. Their designs are so unique and will definitely be a conversation starter. PH5 was established in New York in 2014, PH5 is an advanced contemporary women’s knitwear brand founded by Wei Lin, the daughter of a knitwear manufacturer, and designed by a Parsons-trained, award-winning designer, Zoe Champion. The label challenges the conventional vision of knitwear by marrying whimsical designs with architectural dimensions of knitting techniques.

PH5’s moniker is based on the numeric pH scale, which ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 as neutral. If 7 represented androgynous unisex labels and 1 represented the extreme feminine or sexy brands, PH5 would be a brand that's leaning more towards the edgier side while keeping a touch of femininity. Innovative, functional, and hugely stylish knitwear is at the heart of PH5. Empowered by its scientific name, PH5 sets out to inspire people to completely rethink knitwear and tell the world that knitwear is more than just a winter fabric. Knitwear is breathable, lightweight, colorful, and fashion-forward.

Using knit as their vehicle of innovation, they are here to create a fashion label that reaches beyond womenswear, and into other categories and industries. By collaborating with many innovative tech firms, they are redefining the relationship between fashion and technology, which is what will allow them to succeed long-term and create value in the world. At PH5, they are designing beyond products; they're redefining knitwear and what knitwear can be for generations to come.

The Maya Dress is stunning and it needs to be worn on a trip to Miami, It features the signature wavy asymmetric dress in sustainably sourced yarns and recycled sequins. A side border details create a slimming optical illusion, while the statement print and wavy hem steal the show. This dress comes in two colors and in sizes XS-XL and the price is $545.00.

I love this look from the Spring/Summer 2022 Ready-To-Wear Collection, it reminds me so much of what a '50s housewife would wear.

The Resort 2024 Collection from PH5 was gorgeous, I wanted everything in this collection.

I need these two pieces from the Resort 2024 Collection, I'm in my pink girl era.

How cool is this dress from the Fall/Winter 2021 Ready-To-Wear Collection?

I love everything about the Spring/Summer 2024 Ready-To-Wear Collection, the amount of color and texture was beautifully done.

Fashion friends, I hope that all of you have enjoyed this blog post about this designer from the AAPI community, I love you all so much, and until next time, Stay Beautiful.
